SFGG started their Cal Cup season exactly how they wanted with a 42-19 win over the San Diego Old Aztecs. SFGG used their backs to perfect running out to a strong lead before the Old Aztecs put together a good run in the second half. For the Old Aztecs it was their match at an elite level like the Cal Cup. They'll take lessons out of the match while SFGG look forward to their rivals Olympic Club next week. The Old Aztecs will host Life West.
Three Okusi brothers played for SFGG. The club also held a moment of silence in remembrance of Dan Daly before the start of the match. Daly was a contributor to the club and the father of stalwart Brendan Daly. Jack Halalilo and Pila Huihui each had two tries while Volney Rouse and Manu Laqai each had one. Rouse was six for six conversions.
Old Aztecs received tries from wing John Prickett, scrumhalf Robert Stortz, and lock Lucas Edwards. Center Tim Howard was 2 for 3 on conversions.
