Heading into the Cal Cup season OMBAC had a singular focus of winning a title. That goal took it's initial step forward as they beat Olympic Club 58-10 to open up the season. Despite the eventual scoreline both teams playing some strong rugby but the depth of OMBAC was the difference as they were able to pull away in key moments.
Zach Pangelinan was a hat-trick for OMBAC scoring a hat-trick, including two in the first ten minutes. Pangelinan has been a scoring machine over the last few years and him getting going early is a good side. Another big player for OMBAC on the day was Kalei Konrad who was 5 for 9 on conversions and a penalty. Others tries came from Ian Denham, Ben Batger, Josh Bart, John Grant, Matt Long, and Shane Moise. The try from Bart was particularly strong as he ran an inside line off fly-half Ben Batger untouched for a thirty meter try.
Jared Braun was the try scorer for Olympic Club with Eagle Jake Anderson hitting the conversion and a later penalty.
